Biblical Worldview
Janelle Harris Theo 201 Prof. Gabriel Etzel January 19, 2013 Biblical World View One may wonder if God still has a hand on His creation today and if so, how? Take biology, without plants giving off oxygen we wouldnââ¬â¢t be able to breathe. How does the tree know how to produce oxygen? How do we know how to naturally breathe in and out? Look at Business. How does one know how to be ethical and moral? Well according to the Holy Bible, God is very much still active in His creation and in a variety of ways.First, God works in the universe. As a prophet of God, King David, said in Psalm 19, verse 1, ââ¬Å"The heavens are telling the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands. â⬠One can hardly look at the beauty, the order, and the wisdom of the universe and not see how wise and powerful God is. The God who makes the sun shine and the flowers bloom, the God who regulates times and seasons has such great power and wisdom that it is truly beyond our underst anding.Paul declared in Acts 14, verses 16 and 17: ââ¬Å"And in the generations gone by He permitted all the nations to go their own ways; and yet He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good and gave you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness. â⬠Everything we have comes from the blessings of God. Second, God is at work answering everyoneââ¬â¢s prayer. The Bible says in Isaiah 65, verse 24, ââ¬Å"It will also come to pass that before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear. God wants to hear your prayers. He is eager to hear our thoughts and request. He has a desire to have a relationship with His children. The Bible says in James 1, verse 17 that, ââ¬Å"Every good thing bestowed and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation, or shifting shadow. â⬠God loves us enough to hear our prayers and to help us when w e need Him most. The apostle Paul reminds us in Ephesians 3, verses 20 to 21, ââ¬Å"Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever, Amen. â⬠Third, God is busy shaping our everyday lives. He works in us day by day second by second. The Bible says in Philippians 1 and verse 6, ââ¬Å"For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. God prepares His people to do His work, so that we may live an eternity in heaven with Him. What God is doing in us now prepares us for the life to come. This is happening to people in every major not just bible majors. The Bible says in Philippians 2, verses 12 and 13, ââ¬Å"So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvatio n with fear and trembling; for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. God is shaping our hearts, our attitudes, our will, and our lives to conform to His will, so that we could live with Him and He could live with us forever. With a major in Business I know my God is active in every decision making process. Through hiring and firing, expanding or downsizing, and even though negotiations God is at work. The bible says in Deuteronomy 8 verse 18, ââ¬Å"But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today. All of our skills and special talents that we use in our businesses are all given to us by God. He gives us the ability to make money and cut deals. He did it for our parents and mentors and he does it for us too. Jesus is not only our Creator; He is also the one who keeps this whole world running together. The Bible says in Col ossians 1, verses 15 to 17, ââ¬Å"And He [that is Jesus] is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authoritiesââ¬âall things have been created by Him and for Him.And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. â⬠Godââ¬â¢s power and wisdom created our seasons which cause the earth to rotate every 24 hours making night and day. He created the moon to revolve around the earth every 28 days and it also controls the tides of the oceans. God causes the earth to go around the sun every 365 and one fourth days determining our year and our seasons. There is no way this just happened by its self. No, God has been in control the entire time.

Eating Healthily with a Busy Lifestyle Essay
1.0 Introduction Life is work and work is life. People who commit themselves to that particular social economic lifestyle will endure the process of getting busy almost every moment in their daily lives. Their timings to do laundry and keeping themselves and the house clean had decreased as well as their most important timings of all: food intake and meal times planning. Everyday we meet people and surely we would not want to be around any cranky and irritable people who have not taken the time to have a good meal let alone the persons are us. Veloso, M. wrote in her article ââ¬Å"Eating healthy in a busy worldâ⬠that by not eating appropriately, not only makes us feel tired, but it can cause some serious relationship issues when it comes to our mood. Therefore, our further meetings, appointments and decision making can be affected as well. She added that life will always be busy but if we do not eat on a schedule, our body will not have enough energy to keep up with our active yet busy life. Life can be busy but let it not be chaotic and distressful. She believed it is real that ââ¬Å"if we eat more regularly and eat a more balanced diet, sugar levels stay more even which enhances our moodâ⬠. From what she said, we can conclude that no matter how busy we are, a balanced diet is a must in order to run our life a success at the end of the day. This is because, bad or no food at all will only ruin our mood and our daily activities as well. Hence, over the next chapters, this article will discuss about why, how and what kind of food intake benefit us as well as the suggested menus for those who have busy lifestyles. 2.0 Why is it important? Malaysian culture is the culture that often revolves around food. There are lots of variety of food that are simply available almost anywhere. The questions of being nutritional come second in our community as our food often famous with deep and stir fry dishes. Some people will think that if they consume green vegetables as a side dish once a week, they are actually taking a healthy diet and their body already has the nutrition to stay healthy for all week long. According to Sarah DeWitt from eHow.com, ââ¬Å"a healthy diet is a diet loaded with a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, along with lean meats and other protein sources. A healthy diet is a lifestyle. We need a healthy diet to maintain good health and prevent diseases such as cancer and diabetesâ⬠. She disclosed that healthy diet may decrease the chances of such critical diseases. According to Sue Roberts (2011) in the article entitled ââ¬ËDo We Have to Eat Healthy Foods?ââ¬â¢, Centers for Disease Control stated that ââ¬Å"310. 000 to 580, 000 deaths per year can be attributed to poor food choices and physical inactivity. Obesity, stroke, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and osteoporosis are example of chronic diseases which are related to improper nutritionâ⬠. Hence, we need to maintain the health of our bodies since we ought to live happily and meaningfully. This is because, keeping our body healthy also will prevent us from stress and other stress related diseases which may obstruct our daily lives especially our busy job schedules and workloads. Even as little as dizziness and headache would cost us a fortune if our body could not keep up with what we pressured ourselves into and this is the result of us lacking in maintaining balance between nutrition and food taste into our body. Even though we are as busy as bees, we still cannot skip the responsibility of taking care of our body. It is enough if we can include beneficial nutrients in our daily intake in every consecutive meal especially breakfast, lunch and dinner. These three meal time are believed to be vital to most of our respondents. They shared an interesting idea about those meal time and how important ones to eat at certain times according to lifestyle as long as it continuum and not skipping any meal. Perhaps some of them had already suffered from stomach problem which often caused by skipping meals and not enough food to ingest and they learnt from mistakes. Therefore, it is important to not to skip any meal even though we are very busy as the action may cause not only troubles but also some great fortune for not working in 100 percent full self-potential and determination. Hence, over the next chapter, we will discuss about how and what shall be taken to maintain a great balance thus resulting in healthy body and gaining power with great inner strength to stay focus and be happy for work and daily lives. 3.0 How to eat healthily in a busy lifestyle Marlene Veloso writes in her article that people can avoid going to vending machine for junk food and suffer from fatigue by 3 simple tips. First is by ââ¬Å"eating smaller meals more often. This allows your body to have a constant source of fuel and energy to keep your sugar levels evenâ⬠. Second is to ââ¬Å"avoid sugars and soft drinks that not only make your sugar level increase quickly and at extremely high levels, but they also contain a lot of useless calories and bad sugars that are bad for your overall health.â⬠Lastly, you should ââ¬Å"eat a lot of highly soluble fibre and proteins that can make you feel more lively and energeticâ⬠. From these vital points, we can assume that meal times and food intake are crucial for us in order to maintain steadiness in our everyday lives. According to our small scale research, only 1 from 9 respondents who did not care about the meal time as long as he can eat when he is hungry. He also believed that no food can release any stress. However, according to Dorie Ensenstein in the article ââ¬Å"10 Superfoods for Stress Reliefâ⬠wrote that milk is one of the food that can help to level the stress and often taken during breakfast as a good start for the day. This is because ââ¬Å"milk is high in antioxidants and vitamins B2 and B12, as well as protein and calcium. Have a bowl of whole-grain cereal and low-fat milk in the morning to start your day with a stress-fighting breakfast.â⬠According to the article, there are some more stress relief foods such as Asparagus, Beef, Cottage Cheese and Fruits, Almonds, Blueberries, Tuna and Cornflakes or Crispy Rice Cereal. She also stated the recommended serving size and time. For example, Almonds can be eaten as finger food while Cornflakes or Crispy Rice Cereal is suitable to be taken during breakfast together with milk. The real deal is to be disciplined and to plan how to have healthy yet easy meals. If we want to avoid the stress, we should plan ahead of time and prepare them because making healthy meals requires planning. We should keep our kitchen stocked with labeled food items that ensures us to use minimal time and effort to cook and prepare our food. This is because, according to an article that was reviewed by Fristky(2011), the North Carolina State Universityââ¬â¢s department of family and consumer sciences stated that ââ¬Å"the diets of busy families are negatively affected by a lack of planning and organization as much as they are affected by lack of nutrition knowledge.â⬠Hence, before we brush up on our nutrition facts, we should plan ahead and get ourselves organized. This article highlighted how important the planning and being organized are. Therefore, no matter how busy we are, we need to find time to plan our meals. By shopping during off-peak hours and buying enough food to last for several weeks, we would save a lot of valuable time lining in the store and instead, we could use it to prepare healthful meals at home. Hence, we can prepare the ingredients the night before or during the weekends and packed into the freezer in adequate serving size. Moreover, we can also pack our lunch everyday. It is beneficial because we knew where our ingredients came from either it is healthy or otherwise. From our research also, we can conclude that meal time is considered essential in everyday lives. 7 from 9 respondents stated that they needed a rather strict meal time such as breakfast, lunch and dinner. Some even adjusted the time and combined breakfast and lunch into brunch which commonly taken at 10 a.m. to 12 at noon. Reena, one of the respondents claimed that she did not take dinner but would take light supper at night since she was breastfeeding her baby boy. This showed that meal time is adjustable as long as we do not live on empty stomach. Our diet should fit the need of our body and our healthy lifestyle. According to two of our respondents, they claimed that they needed to have finger food or energy bar to avoid them eating junkfood or when they need extra energy. The finger food can be very healthy ones such as quick fix fruits and nuts such as grapes, cherry tomatoes and baby-carrots according to the article entitled ââ¬Å"Are you too busy to eat healthy?â⬠and was reviewed by Marie (2011). It also wrote that we can buy pre-cut and washed vegetables and purchase bags of ready-to-eat salad greens and spinach. Almonds can also be our finger food as it has many good mineral for our body. These healthy snacks should be bagged and ready to go so that we can just grab the snacks on the way to work which is an example of simple and easy yet nutritional food choice no matter how busy we are. In the nutshell, we can say that meal time and ingredients taken will affect our body thus our everyday behavior which will include accumulated stress over the time. Livestrong.com in an article ââ¬Å"Healthy eating menus when busyâ⬠stated that we should start our busy day with a healthy breakfast as it will influence the rest of the meals. 4.0 Menus for busy yet healthy people. Eating is a must routine for everybody in this whole wide world. It is necessary to support good health. However, in busy schedule, people often choose food that is convenient to them rather what is really necessary for healthier living. With this mentality at hand, people will never eat good food thus resulting in many critical diseases such as heart attack, diarrhea and allergies. Storing bad food inside our stomach is not a good move. According to an article reviewed by Covington (2010), ââ¬Å"If we are low at time, we should learn how to make fast, easy and healthy meals.â⬠Therefore, we are going to share a few tips in creating good menus for busy but yet healthy people. First of all, good breakfast. This article tells us that we should eat something that ââ¬Å"is easy to prepare for breakfastâ⬠. It continues to stress that skipping breakfast can keep our metabolism slow and cause us to become ravenous later in the day. It is suggested to grab pre-made, hard-boiled eggs and half a whole-grain bread and munch them on the way to work. Busy people should also drink some meal replacement shakes that usually contain a balance of protein, carbohydrates and fat as well as vitamin and minerals. Blend together the mix with recommended amount of low-fat milk or ice-cold water. We can drink this shakes when we are on the road and do not access to healthy food for several hours. We can also make fruit smoothie which is very quick to prepare and offers plenty of nutrition in the morning. In the article ââ¬Å"Healthy breakfast on the go ideasâ⬠, it suggested that we blend fruit, low fat yogurt and a spoonful of wheat germ until desired consistency is reached. We can use many kinds of fruits such as berries, bananas, mangoes, kiwi, mangoes or apple. Fruits are rich with vitamins and mineral as well as the taste. In relevance to the use of fruits, Ary, one of our respondent said that he would take apple if he wants to feel healthier. In order to maintain good health a person needs five to eight servings of fruits and vegetables daily. It is also important to consume different types of fruits and vegetables rather than eating the same types of veggies all the time. If we have a hard time eating our vegetables we can also make a green smoothie or even put our vegetables in a juicer. Just be sure to add the pulp back into another recipe to get our fiber back. Protein is an essential part of a healthy diet. The skin, hair and nails are mainly composed of proteins. Protein can be found in chicken, fish, beef and eggs. Vegetarians can also get the right balance of protein from nuts, beans, soy and even spirulina. Spirulina is a sea vegetable that is loaded with nutrients and it is one of the most easily digestible proteins known to man. According to our research respondents, many said that they are taking supplements such as Spirulina, black seeds (Habbatussaudaââ¬â¢) with honey, Vitamin C, Calcium pills, Evening Primrose Oil, and B-Complex pills. By taking these pills almost everyday, they somehow fit the need of their body to the nutrients that are deemed necessary and to stay healthy. According to Schwarcz and Berkoff (2004), fatty acids are very good for our health. The brain and heart thrive on omega 3 fatty acids. These healthy fats reduce inflammation within the body and reduce the incidence of disease. Omega fats are found in salmon oil, cod liver oil, nuts, seeds and eggs. We can also buy cod liver oil in supplement form and take it daily. A healthy diet is not just about what foods we eat. It is also very important to include plenty of purified water in our diet. The human body is over 70 percent water and water is needed for almost every bodily function. Water transports nutrients, and bathes our cells from the inside out. Water helps to flush out waste and toxins and water helps to keep the skin and brain healthy. Most people need eight to 10 glasses of pure water each day, but if we exercise or work in the sun we may need more. Listen to our body and drink more water if needed. In the article ââ¬Å"eat busy scheduleâ⬠which was reviewed by Bye (2010) stated that we can also eat healthily in fast-food chains by ordering the right kind of foods. We should select grilled or baked meats, salad with low-calorie dressing, whole grain rolls and bread and broth-based soup. As for Malay restaurant diners, we should avoid taking too much rice but resort to green vegetables soup with shredded egg-whites and less sautà © dishes. We should also avoid deep-fried foods and high-calorie sauces such as coconut milk based gravy and creamy sauce. 5.0 Conclusion As a conclusion, eating healthily is important to us whether we are busy or not. There is no excuse for us not to take care of ourselves. We are responsible to our body growth and function. Choosing what to eat and plan the meal are the ways to keep ourselves organized and healthy. When we are healthy, we will execute our daily routines and workload in a much better way and stress-free circumstances. Hence, we should find the time to plan, choose, prepare and eat our meals in consistent meal times daily so that we can eat healthily even with our busy lifestyle.

Society in Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achedes Essays
Society in Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achedes The world in Chinua Achedes novel, Things Fall Apart, was a society in which males had control of everything, and the women had control of nothing. As wives, women were seen as property, rather than as partners to be loved and cherished. The men of the Ibo tribe usually married more than one wife because the more wives, yams, barns, and titles each Ibo man held, the more successful he was considered. These possessions determined a mans social status. An example of a man looking for social status in these ways was Nwakibie, who had three huge barns, nine wives and thirty children, and the highest but one title which a man could take in the clan(18). The society that Chinua Achebe described in his bo ok, Things Fall Apart, is also based on agriculture. The major crop the Ibo tribe grew was the yam, which was said to be the symbol of virility. The coco-yam, which was a smaller size and had a lesser value than other yams, was regarded as female. The yam also stood for manliness, and he who could feed his family on yams from one harvest to another is a very great man indeed (33). To produce a great harvest, the Ibo farmer would have needed a lot of help. The women ran most of the workforce by farming, tending animals, and raising the children so that they could help out on the farms. The yam demanded hard work and constant attention from cock-crow till the chickens went back to roost. The young tendrils were protected from the earth-heat with rings of sisal leaves. As the rains became heavier, the women planted maize, melons, and beans between the yam mounds. The yams were then staked, first with little sticks and later with tall big tree branches. The women weeded the farm three times at definite period in the life of the yams, neither early nor late (33). Here, the women can be compared to slaves because they did most of the work on the

The End Of The Civil War - 1568 Words
There were many factors that contributed to the beginning of the Civil War. Socially, the North and South were built on very different standards. The North was known as the ââ¬Å"free-statesâ⬠in which they had more immigrants settling in its boundaries. In the North labor was very much needed, within this time it is important to understand that in terms of labor, labor of slaves was not needed. Not in that way. Therefore, the North was made up of a more industrialized society where most people worked in places such as factories. Another important factor about the Northââ¬â¢s social society is that there was no class system that was needed, they did not follow a class system, whoever they needed came. Another important factor about the free statesâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Along with how the Northerners threatened their way of life too. Now, in the times of when Abraham Lincoln was in the process of being elected as president, there were many things happening in the coun try already. In 1830 there were faithful activists like W. Garrison, the Tappan brothers, T. Weld, and many others that had made several publications ââ¬Å"â⬠¦advocating the antislavery movement and claiming that slavery is a major sin. They all gave birth to the movement of abolitionism and won over many white Americans to their campaign.â⬠(Ward, A., 2008). The main goal of early abolitionists was to create a better society through reforms. McPherson states that early abolitionists engaged in battles to convince their fellow Americans that it was morally wrong to keep other humans in bondage. He also mentions that in order to realize a better and more righteous republic, they believed, the institution of slavery had to be rejected (McPherson, J., 1998). So, many abolitionists advocated to essentially abolish slavery right away as ââ¬Å"they believed all people should be equal in rightsâ⬠(McPherson, J.,1998). The abolitionists demanded immediate an emancipation â⠬Å"â⬠¦without payment to slave owners. Rather than accepting the dominant white view of African Americans as inferior caste that could never be integrated as equals in American society, they called for an end to racial discrimination (McPherson, J., 1998). John Locke on Liberty and Equality - 933 Words
Liberalism is a political philosophy based on the ideas of liberty and equality; it supports the ideas of civil rights, freedom of religion, freedom of press, and free trade. Liberalism traces its origins to the works of John Locke in the seventeenth century and the philosophy of enlightenment in the eighteenth century. Locke wrote that every man has a natural right to life, liberty and property (ââ¬Å"All mankind being all equal and independent, no one ought to harm another in his life, health, liberty, or possessions, John Locke, Second Treatise of Government). Liberals opposed absolutism and favored democratic government with rule of law. In the nineteenth century, liberal governments were established in nations across Europe, and America. Although liberalism had become popular, in the nineteenth and the 20th century it faced challenges. The ideas of Freud and Nietzsche, anti-Semitism, World War 1, Communism, feminism, and Nazism, all presented challenges to the ideas of liberali sm. Each one of these had certain ideas or actions which were at odds with what liberalism preached; to get their work done, or ideas implemented, liberalism had to be opposed. Communism is an ideology which presented serious challenges to liberalism. The Communist manifesto by Marx and Engels put forward the ideas of communism, which contained ideas which didn`t match with the ideas of Liberalism. Rites of Passage free essay sample
In society, there is a transition that every youth will transition to adulthood and this transition period is commonly referred to as the rites of passage. This marks the period in which every female and adolescent males will go through. Rite of passage is a terminology that was enunciated by Arnold van Gennep who in his denotes rituals that some society takes part in to celebrate a youth transition into adulthood. Gennep works has been widely accepted as the basis anthropological thought. These rites of passages correlate to the transitioning period from adolescents to adulthood. Rites of passage are a ritual, event and or celebration that scribe an individualââ¬â¢s progression from one status to another. This rite of passage is a widely accepted belief cross culturally, a phenomenon which reveals to anthropologist the complexities of human development, social hierarchies, values, and beliefs which are pertinent in specific cultures. Ceremonies, celebrations, bar mitzvah, family tradition commemorate the young adolescentââ¬â¢s transition to adulthood and mark his or her new journey into the new world. We will examine and answer the demands that society has on the adolescents, the many factors that they are bombarded with and the many pressures that they are faced with, sexual orientation development, the biological changes that take place during adolescence and how those changes affect the Childs physical, emotional, social and cognitive development. In addition, evaluate the process in which they go through from separation, initiation and reintegration. Pressures to fit in Teenagers, today are experience many pressures, from acceptance in ââ¬Å"in crowdâ⬠to being knowledgeable about the latest trends. These pressures that affect them shapes their thoughts process and thus their decision making as well, the fact is that teenagers are pressured to grow up fast, disregarding parental supervision and advice and alienate themselves from values that would help navigate them in life. In local high schools, from my work as a Marine recruiter, I see the ongoing trend that these young teens partake, social rituals they undergo in order to be part of the ââ¬Å"in crowd. â⬠I notice that I too was a young pimple faced adolescent who earnestly wanted to be part of the in crowd, a crowd that was hip, popular, well versed in urban vernacular and knowledgeable on the latest styles. This crowd of special individuals had encoded language to disguise their covert actions from their parents, teachers and those in authority. Their mission was to live life without rules, exercise their independence through defiant actions. Acceptance into this ââ¬Å"in crowdâ⬠was not easy and the qualifications to get in were not quite as simple. One of these qualifications would be a certain economic status, friends of a particular status and certain things you possess. This would allow a individual to be included into this ââ¬Å"in crowdâ⬠, in school all over this nation, they are sub groups that are children are longing to be inducted, these groups progress into their secondary education at colleges where we see fraternities, sororities or even those who go to military. As parents we must better prepare them to discern negative associations, gangs, and people with ulterior motives, these individuals will fill the a void that has apparently missing from the lack of structure, love and encouragement a mixture to solidified a key that will unlock the doors to adulthood. Rites of passage is an induction for the child to transition from on stage to another and a foundation for them to build their lives to become productive citizens and thus process again with the next generation that they shall raise. Is this preparation enough to avoid the traps, deceptions and snares of this cold, cold world, a world that values, morality and genuine goodness is almost a thing of the past and the only way to get ahead is by materialism and association. Astin (1984) stated that parents act as value socializers, shaping their childrens perceptions of the appropriateness of occupational-related decisions. Eccles (1994) theorized that parents are expectancy socializers who greatly influence their childrens self-perceptions of being academically and vocationally competent. Young (1994) described parents as the primary providers of encouragement for their adolescents to reach vocational goals through both the modeling of career-related, goal-directed behavior and by actively providing career-related learning experiences. â⬠Good parenting that is effective and guided by moral compass will enable, prepare and navigate their children into adulthood and that in essence is a rite of passage, a ceremony a parent has with his son or daughter. The parent sole responsibility is inform them of the importance of making sound and careful decision and using practical wisdom and trusting their ââ¬Å"gut instinctâ⬠on any issue that they are faced with. What about the those children whom like myself raised by the hands assistance of the government through foster care, these children still should be given positive encouragement, preparation from seasoned adults who are well established and able to give good advice and it is their job to ensure that they are aware of the outside influencers that can affect their judgment. Sexual Orientation A teenager will go through many changes, biologically, emotionally and physically, these are result of puberty. This process brings an awareness to feelings, hormonal changes that plays a role in the sexual development. Questions , thoughts and fears go through their mind, questions about sexual orientation, engaging in sexual activity, masturbation and thoughts of the opposite or to some the same sex. This process will awaken such emotions that in young males will drive them to seek a way to release those ââ¬Å"happyâ⬠emotions, and females a way to attract someone to love them on a emotional level. It is during this time that parents must actively engage and be open and honest about those changes that he or she is going. Normal growth during puberty includes increase in boy size, sexual menstruation, this plays a driving their need to experience sexually and a period of self discovery where masturbation maybe initiated to understand the changes there is going through. Parents should ensure that their children understand the changes their body is going through and consolation to know that such emotions is understandable, and should prepare them to better handle the pressures of sexual intercourse. The reality today is that teens are engaging in sexual activity, experimentation with substance abuse and other acts that their parents would put them, six feet deep. In the line of work I do, the teenagers that flow in and out of office disclose things that apparently their parents are not aware and sad to say if they were more present and consistent with discipline those teenagers would not make those decisions that could affect their future and it is evident from teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. The statistics prove that teen pregnancy is at a growing rate and is due to the lack of poor education, parents not reinforcing the importance of abstinence or contraceptives and the consequences of engaging in any sexual activity. Parents, teachers and those who are influencer in the child life should fulfill their roles by providing that child with the necessary safety net to avoid making the wrong decisions. In conclusion, rites of passage cultural is a celebration to mark the ones transition to adulthood, but the success of that teenager is reliant on the foundation in which the parents, role models lay for them. The responsibilities of the parents are provide their children with the loving support, guidance and information that would help them to make well informed choices and decisions. The foundation laid is pertinent to their success in the adult world and should be noted that good sound advice should be modeled in the parents as they teach their children the importance of values, principals and responsibility. The process in which their child would go through from separation of child to going through the initiation phase that would usher them to re-integration into society, this process is delicate and should be taken with great care.

Russo-Japnese War Of 1905 Essays - Russian Revolution,
Russo-Japnese war of 1905 After the Russo-Japnese war of 1905, in which Russia had lost, a revolution occurred. This being the second after an unsuccessful one in 1825. It appeared that discontent with the public would cause Czar Nicholas II to form a constitutional monarchy. A change such as this one would not have satisfied either the czar or his opponents. While the public wanted democratic freedom the czar did not want to lose control of the peasants. This one would also be unsuccessful. Two more revolutions soon would occur and be successful. The first revolution occurred during World War I while the Russian military was pressed by war with Germany. The March Revolution of 1917 led to the abdication of Nicholas and the installment of a provisional government. The leader of this new government was Alexander Kerensky, who was eventually forced from power and later fled to America. The armies that were at war were taken command by Czar Nicholas in the fall of 1915, leaving a power vacuum in the capitol city of St. Petersburg. Suddenly in March of 1917 the collapse of the government came. Mass demonstrations were spawned by food riots, strikes and war protests. The army refused to fire upon demonstrators. On March 14, a Soviet of Workers' and Soldiers' Deputies was elected, and it formed the provisional government which later caused the removal of Nicholas. The leading men in the October 1917 revolution were Lenin and Leon Trotsky. Years later, on Joseph Stalin's orders, Trotsky was assassinated. No one could take action against the Bolsheviks who were subverting the army, passing out fire-arms, and appointing their supporters as commissars of military units. On the night of November 6-7 the Bolsheviks attacked, and gained control of the capitol after several days of fighting. Meanwhile, Lenin had to deal with the war. Peace negotiations failed, so Lenin dealt straight with the Germans. Lenin had to pick, either a loss of territory, or the loss of his new government. He chose in favor of his government. At the time of the meeting to approve a peace treaty, the Bolsheviks changed their name to the Russian Communist Party. The treaties effects for Lenin were negative. Patriotic indignation at the betrayal of Russia to Germany surfaced quickly, even in the army. This division led to a civil war that lasted until late 1920. On August 19, 1991, eight of Mikhail Gorbachev's associates planned to remove him from office, while slowly disintegrating the 74-year old Communist state of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Among the people cooperating in this plan were the KGB, the vice president, and the military. Standing firm for this action was Boris Yeltsin, who barricaded himself in the Russian embassy with advisors, coming out only to rouse up the people against Gorbachev. Only 72 hours later Mikhail was back in Moscow. From the moment the plot had failed, Gorbachev's power began to fade rapidly. He was forced to resign office, and communism was banned. Mikhail t ried to keep some form of government together by getting a union treaty signed, but this was an economic federation, not a national treaty. On December 8, 1991, the republics of Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus formed a federation and moved the capitol from Moscow to Minsk. The Commonwealth of Union States, as this new federation was called, marked the end of the Soviet Union, and tried to find new relationships between other federations. The parliament building was attacked on October 4, 1993, to stop a revolt by heavily armed legislatures who opposed Yeltsin and his ideas. Yeltsin had dissolved parliament on September 21 of the same year. After the assault, opposing legislatures voted to impeach Yeltsin and place his vice-president, Aleksandr Rutskoi, as president. In the assault 142 people were killed, and the White House, as the building is called was destroyed. If these actions had been successful, everything Yeltsin had worked for could have been lost.
